Calima and warmer weather on the way
A light calima will once again be present across the Canary Islands this Wednesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The day is expected to bring mostly clear skies, with temperatures tending to rise. Winds will be moderate from the north, though they may become strong at times in areas facing northwest and east.
In the island capitals, minimum temperatures will be 18°C, while maximums will reach 25°C in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 23°C in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At sea, northeasterly winds of force 4 to 5 are expected, with possible intervals of force 6. Seas will range from moderate to rough, with some slight swell in places, and a northerly swell of 1 to 2 metres, reports Efe.

The north of the island will see cloudy skies below 900–1,200 metres, with occasional light drizzle possible, though large clear spells will open up during the day. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly clear or sunny, apart from some cloudy intervals overnight in southern coastal areas. A light calima is expected at higher altitudes on south-facing slopes. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, though they will rise slightly in higher areas, particularly in the northern midlands, where maximums may increase moderately. Winds will be moderate from the north, occasionally strong in the far northwest and along the east coast during daylight hours. La Gomera

Temperatures will see little change, aside from a slight to moderate increase in maximums in the summits. Winds will be moderate from the north, occasionally strong along the east coast during the day. Sea breezes are expected on the south coast, with light easterly winds in higher areas. La Palma

Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, aside from a slight to moderate increase in inland areas, especially in maximums. Winds will be moderate from the northeast, occasionally strong in the far southeast and northwest. Sea breezes are expected on the west coast, with light easterly winds in higher areas. El Hierro

Lanzarote

Fuerteventura

Temperatures will see a slight rise, particularly maximums in the north and east. Winds will be moderate from the north, occasionally strong in inland areas and south of Jandía during the day. Gran Canaria
In the north, below 700–900 metres, cloudy skies will prevail, with occasional light drizzle possible, though clear spells will open up during the central hours of the day. Elsewhere on the island, skies will be mostly clear or sunny, apart from some cloudy intervals overnight in southern coastal areas. A light calima is expected in mid-altitude areas and south-facing higher slopes. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, aside from a slight rise in maximums in higher areas, particularly in the summits, where it may be moderate. Winds will be moderate from the north, with strong intervals on the southeast and northwest slopes. Locally very strong gusts cannot be ruled out during daylight hours.
