The Canary Islands are in for a summer-like Friday, with coastal highs of 25–32°C and the warmest readings along the southern shores. Enjoy it while it lasts: a more autumnal weekend is waiting in the wings.

General conditions

Skies will be mixed. Low cloud will cling to northern and north-eastern slopes below 500–700 metres, while high cloud drifts over the rest of the archipelago. Most areas can still expect plenty of sunshine through the day, along with a touch of light calima.

Local cloud will build over the summits during the middle of the day, with the odd isolated shower possible on Mount Teide. Winds will blow moderately from the north-east along the coast, turn easterly in the mid-altitudes and stay light and variable on the peaks.

Out on the Atlantic, expect slightly choppy conditions along much of the coastline, rougher seas offshore and an ocean swell from the north-west of around 1.5 metres.

Tenerife

Scattered clouds will dominate, thickest in the north and north-east during the early and late hours. Elsewhere it will be sunny with bands of high cloud, plus local cloud building over the summits and the chance of an isolated shower. Daytime highs of 25–32°C.

Gran Canaria

The familiar “donkey’s belly” cloud will sit over the north and the capital below 500 metres, especially first thing and again late in the day. The rest of the island will see long sunny spells, high cloud and light calima, with summer-like temperatures.

Lanzarote

Morning low cloud in the north will give way to high cloud elsewhere. Expect sunny spells, light calima, summer temperatures and a steady north-easterly wind.

Fuerteventura

Low cloud at dawn will clear to high cloud for the rest of the day, with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will hold steady and the north-easterly wind will be moderate.

La Palma

Low cloud over the north and east will give way to sunshine, with local cloud developing over the summits. Temperatures will be a little warmer than recent days and the north-easterly wind will reach the coast.

La Gomera

Low cloud below 600 metres in the north, but sunshine and streaks of high cloud elsewhere. Temperatures will feel more like summer than autumn, with a north-easterly wind along the coast.

El Hierro

Scattered low cloud across parts of the north and north-east, with sunshine and high cloud over the rest of the island. Temperatures will be more typical of summer, with a light to moderate trade wind.

La Graciosa

A mix of cloud and clear spells. Caleta de Sebo will reach a high of 27°C, with a light to moderate north-easterly wind.
