The Canary Islands remain under the influence of a weakened DANA this Wednesday, 21 October, keeping the weather unsettled across the archipelago. Showers are on the cards for most islands, with the eastern ones most exposed to heavier spells later in the day.
Rain most likely in the east
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura start with scattered clouds that will thicken through the afternoon, bringing weak rain that could turn locally moderate or persistent, with the odd isolated shower and even the chance of a rumble of thunder. On the mountainous islands, expect cloudier skies along the north and east, with scattered cloud elsewhere and a chance of light rain that may linger in places. A few occasional showers cannot be ruled out on El Hierro, and patches of high cloud will drift overhead throughout the day.
Temperatures and wind
Daytime highs will edge up slightly on the western islands, while Fuerteventura and Lanzarote see a moderate drop. Mornings will be a touch milder than of late, most noticeably in the east. A moderate north-easterly wind will blow, stronger in the south-east and north-west of the mountainous islands, and across the interior and west of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It should ease as the afternoon wears on.
Out on the Atlantic, the biggest waves will build along the northern coasts and the western shoreline of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, reaching around 1.5 metres. Rough seas are also expected in patches along the southern coasts.

Temperatures in Santa Cruz will range from 22°C to 26°C.
