Tram maintenance prompts traffic changes in Santa Cruz
Maintenance works on the Tenerife tram line will bring traffic modifications to the guided roundabout at the junction of Avenida Ángel Romero and Calle Alcalde Mandillo Tejera in the island’s capital from this Sunday. Santa Cruz City Council has confirmed that from 7:00 am, traffic circulating around this roundabout will be cancelled, preventing drivers from making the turn. At the same time, use of the left lane will be prohibited.
What drivers need to know
Despite these changes, road users will still be able to travel up and down the roundabout, as the right-hand lane in the uphill direction and one lane in the downhill direction will remain open. For those needing to change direction, alternative routes include the 29 de Mayo roundabout at the junction of Avenida Islas Canarias and Avenida de Bélgica, as well as the Avenida Ángel Romero junction with the Santa Cruz-La Laguna main road, near the start of Calle Pedro Suárez Hernández.
Tram and bus services unaffected
The works will not affect the tram service, which will continue to run normally according to its usual schedules and routes. Titsa urban bus services will also remain unaffected, keeping their usual routes and stops along this section. This third phase of the works completes the maintenance operations carried out by Metrotenerife in the municipality on the tram lines, which began on 19 April in the Puente Zurita area and were later moved to Cruz del Señor.
