Tenerife summer bus timetable: more services to beaches as season begins

The arrival of summer, which coincides with the eve of the San Juan celebrations, brings changes to Tenerife’s public transport network. Transport company Titsa activates its summer schedule this Monday, adapting its bus services to meet the surge in journeys to the island’s main beaches and coastal areas, where a significant share of leisure and tourism activity will be concentrated over the coming months.

New and reinstated routes for beachgoers

Among the key changes is the reintroduction of line 546, which connects Realejo Alto and Realejo Bajo with Playa del Socorro. There is also the launch of line 948, linking Azanos with Benijo via Almáciga, one of the most popular spots in the Anaga massif during the summer season. Additionally, the public company will reinforce several of the routes with the highest demand. This includes line 910, which runs between the Santa Cruz bus interchange and Las Teresitas, and line 946, connecting the capital with San Andrés, Taganana and Almáciga, where additional services will be added at weekends.

Extra services across the coast

The changes will also benefit other coastal destinations across the island. Frequencies will be increased to Mesa del Mar, Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, Punta de Teno, El Rincón, Radazul, Tabaiba, La Nea, Las Caletillas and Candelaria, with new journeys added and some existing connections improved.

Temporary suspensions and adjustments

At the same time, Titsa is applying adjustments typical of the summer period. Some lines will see their timetables modified, while others – particularly those linked to university activity – will be temporarily suspended until the start of the next academic year. These include several university shuttle services and routes that see a notable drop in demand during the summer months.

Encouraging public transport over private cars

With this reorganisation, the company aims to make it easier to reach Tenerife’s most popular swimming and leisure spots by public transport, offering an alternative to the private car during the busiest months of the year and helping to reduce traffic pressure on the main routes to the coast.
