Emergency landing in Tenerife
Two men escaped with minor injuries after a light aircraft made an emergency landing on a road in the Amarilla Golf area of San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife, this afternoon. The plane crashed into a roundabout near Tenerife South Airport, according to the 1-1-2 Canarias emergency service.
Injuries and hospital treatment
The two occupants of the aircraft are a 50-year-old man, who has been taken to Hospiten Sur, and a 20-year-old man, transferred to the southern hospital. Both were admitted for observation and further medical assessment.
The crash site
The emergency landing took place on Calle María de los Ángeles Ascanio Cullen, just a few kilometres from Tenerife South Airport. The plane hit the roundabout before coming to a stop, and both men were able to climb out of the wreckage unaided.
No bystanders injured
Emergency services confirmed that no pedestrians or other vehicles were involved in the incident. Firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Service sprayed foam on the road after fuel leaked from the aircraft.
Emergency response
Alongside the Canary Islands Emergency Service, which dispatched three ambulances, officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard also attended the scene.
