Mojo Music Fest returns for sixth edition
The Mojo Music Fest is back for its sixth edition, with over 23 artists on the bill set to headline four nights of concerts in the Plaza de la Música Jerónimo Saavedra, from 19 to 22 August. Among this year’s most notable acts are Mexican duo Nortec: Bostich Fussible and a joint project featuring Santander-based group Los Estanques alongside El Canijo de Jerez, a mainstay of Los Delinquentes and member of the supergroup G-5, which also includes Kiko Veneno, Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Tomasito and Diego Ratón.
The event was unveiled at Talleres Palermo. True to its philosophy, this year’s Mojo Music Fest once again champions emerging acts from the alternative European and Spanish scenes, spanning rock, punk, garage, pop, indie, reggae, shoegaze, electronic, and hardcore — a reflection of the programming that once defined the legendary Mojo Club, the iconic Gran Canaria capital venue that was itself located in the Plaza de la Música.
Free and ticketed nights across four days
The programme runs from Wednesday 19 to Saturday 22 August at the same venue as last year’s edition, again taking place in the third week of August. The first two dates, 19 and 20 August, will be free of charge and are backed by two of the Gran Canaria capital’s most respected music and culture hubs, Talleres Palermo and Lambada Records Bar. As well as providing their resident DJs, both venues are also contributing to the programming for those two nights.
Free-night performers include Go Cactus, Cuarto Marginal, Cristina Mahelo, MVBA Dj Set, I Am Dive, Persa, The Conqueror Project vs. Hirahi Afonso, and Discolate Crew + Crissh. The following two nights — Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August — will be ticketed (tickets are already available at tickety.es) and feature performances by Nortec: Bostich Fussible (Mexico); Los Estanques y el Canijo de Jerez (Spain); Coach Party (UK); Pynch (UK); Gazella (Valencia); I Am Dive (Seville); Persa (); Heal (Barcelona); Tetas Frías (Barcelona); Hostia Pedagógica (Barcelona); and local projects Good Franco, Belice, Supersonikka, LAIV Dj Set and Fuckin Four Factory.
