Illegal taxi operator caught at Gran Canaria Airport
The Canary Islands Police have intercepted an individual on the island of Gran Canaria who was allegedly operating an unlicensed passenger transport service, a practice considered illegal that can result in significant financial penalties. The operation took place in the vicinity of Gran Canaria Airport, where the driver was using the public car park to park his vehicle in an attempt to evade detection by inspection and control services.
According to the information provided, customers who were about to undertake the journey were informed of the situation and subsequently redirected to a legal, licensed taxi to continue their trip. The alleged offender now faces a financial penalty starting at €4,001, a figure set out in the regulations for this type of offence relating to irregular passenger transport.
