Tenerife’s exhibition centre gets light and efficiency boost

Exhibition centre gets a brighter future

The Tenerife Exhibition Centre has modernised its roof to improve light levels and energy efficiency as part of a comprehensive upgrade to its skylights. The work will also strengthen the building’s waterproofing and enhance its overall appearance.

Work began in June 2025

The Tenerife Cabildo confirmed the news this Saturday in a statement, explaining that the project started in June 2025 with the main goal of boosting the structural quality, functionality, and aesthetics of the venue. According to the vice-president of the Exhibition Centre, councillor Manuel Fernández, improving the roof not only guarantees safety but also ensures that natural light once again plays a starring role during events.

Phased technical approach

The work is being carried out in several technical phases to guarantee a flawless finish. First, the old polycarbonate sheets covering the skylights were removed. The technical team then carried out a full clean of the glass and re-sealed all joints.

Finally, an advanced waterproofing system was applied, using primer and layers of polyurethane. This treatment will help the roof respond more effectively to environmental conditions and weather-related wear, extending the structure’s lifespan.

Events unaffected by upgrade

“Despite the scale of the work on the main hall, the Exhibition Centre has designed a schedule that sticks strictly to the event calendar,” the statement added. “As a result, normal activity has not been interrupted, ensuring full operational capacity for the continuation of planned fairs and conferences at all times.”
