Lanzarote Book Fair Announces 2026 Dates and Star Guests
The ‘Feria del Libro’ (Book Fair) will return to Lanzarote from 7th to 10th May, featuring an impressive roster of guest signings. Among the headline names are writer and journalist Juan José Millás; former Minister of Culture and Sports and television presenter, Màxim Huerta; and the young bestselling authors Elísabet Benavent and Marta Jiménez. Also appearing on the event programme is actor and lead singer of the band León Benavente, Abraham Boba.
A Tribute to Local Literary Heritage
Further presentation details will be revealed closer to the fair’s opening date. This year’s event will be dedicated to the writer from Arrecife, Félix Hormiga, as announced by the Island Council (Cabildo). Activities will take place across several venues in the capital, including the Ramírez Cerdá park, the UNED library, the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, and the CIC El Almacén. All events offer free admission.
A Festival of Arts and Community
Mirroring previous editions, the performing arts, music, illustration, and children’s workshops will have a prominent place alongside the sales stalls of bookshops, publishers, and cultural institutions. The Book Fair aims to be a showcase of Arrecife’s creative energy, where leading authors will mingle with local bookshops, reading clubs, and younger audiences.
Focus on Education and New Readers
Furthermore, the Asociación Isla Literaria, which brings together Lanzarote’s publishing and bookselling guilds, notes that the organisers have made a special effort to include presentations aimed at teachers from primary, secondary, and higher education. This initiative will be supported by the UNED (National University of Distance Education), with two mornings dedicated to the student population. The goal is to attract new generations to the world of reading.
