Fisaldo returns to Agüimes with discounts, music and prize draws
The president of the Gran Canaria Cabildo, Antonio Morales, opened the 26th edition of Fisaldo, the Opportunities Fair, on Wednesday at the Agüimes Exhibition Centre. The event brings together 69 small and medium-sized businesses offering discounts and prize draws for visitors.
The fair, which remains open until Sunday 7 June, is being held at the Gran Canaria municipality’s exhibition centre for the first time. Participating businesses are using the event to clear out stock from previous seasons that has been sitting in their storerooms. At the same time, families are flocking to the fair in search of bargains and lower prices than they would usually find on the high street.
Hundreds of visitors on opening day
On its first day, hundreds of people had already walked through the fair in search of the best deals on fashion, homeware, entertainment, sports, cosmetics, electronics and even second-hand vehicles. The stalls offer everything from clothing and footwear to sofas and small appliances, as well as decorative items and stationery, providing an opportunity to pick up quality products with significant discounts.
Children’s play area and live music programme
The organisers have also set up a play area for children aged three to twelve, open from 4pm to 8pm Wednesday to Friday, and from 10.30am to 8pm over the weekend. In addition, visitors can enjoy a musical programme kicking off on Friday 5 June at 6pm with a concert by legendary band Los Salvapantallas, who will be putting their own spin on the best songs from recent decades.
On Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June at 2pm, Canarian trombonist Stefan Navarro will take audiences on a journey through various genres, from pop to Latin music and jazz. To round off the scheduled performances, on Saturday 6 June at 5pm, fairgoers can catch the band Fijo Discontinuo, who will be reinterpreting classic rock and pop hits from the 1970s.
Daily prize draws of €100 in Fisaldo money
Another major draw of the fair is the two daily prize draws of €100 in Fisaldo money, which can be redeemed for purchases at participating stalls, excluding the catering area and motor vehicles. The Gran Canaria Cabildo has confirmed that all visitors attending the fair from its opening until it closes next Sunday will be automatically entered into the draws when they scan their entry ticket to access the venue.
The names of the winners will be published on the event’s website, where tickets for the coming days can also be purchased at a price of €1.50. The Gran Canaria Cabildo has reminded the public that entry is free for children under 12, unemployed people, pensioners, retirees and people with disabilities, provided they can prove their eligibility.
