Arehucas wins three silver medals at prestigious IWSC 2026

International recognition for Gran Canaria distillery

Arehucas has once again positioned itself among the world’s leading distilleries after picking up three new accolades at the 2026 edition of the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), one of the most prestigious competitions for wines and spirits on the global stage. The Canarian brand has been awarded three silver medals, each with a score of 90 points.

Award-winning products showcase distillery range

The award-winning products are Arehucas 7 Años, Arehucas Single Cask Ruby Finish 2006 and Ronmiel Selección Familiar, three references that reflect the quality, versatility and evolution of the distillery’s portfolio. These accolades carry particular significance for Arehucas as they recognise products spanning different categories. Arehucas 7 Años, one of the brand’s most representative rums, has consolidated its position within the longer-aged rum segment. Meanwhile, Arehucas Single Cask Ruby Finish 2006, a limited edition showcasing the distillery’s innovation and careful ageing processes, has also received the backing of the international judging panel. Joining them is Ronmiel Selección Familiar, a premium offering in a category deeply rooted in Canarian tradition.

Premiumisation strategy gains momentum

For Arehucas, these awards provide fresh impetus to its premiumisation strategy, a line of work the company has been developing in recent years through new references, special editions and campaigns aimed at reinforcing the value of origin, product quality and the distillery’s international recognition. “These accolades are great news for us because they honour products that are very different from one another, yet united by the same understanding of quality. They help us continue to highlight the Canarian origin of the brand, our track record as a distillery and the constant work behind each reference,” a spokesperson for Arehucas said.

Building on a legacy of excellence

Founded in 1969, the International Wine & Spirit Competition brings together some of the most outstanding products in the sector worldwide each year and features a specialised panel made up of international experts. For Arehucas, being part of this illustrious list means continuing to project the identity and know-how of the distillery beyond the Islands. With these three new recognitions, the brand is strengthening its presence on the national and international market and reaffirming its commitment to quality, innovation and respect for a tradition that forms part of the history and culture of the Canary Islands.
