A welcome break from the wind
Good news for those who’ve been battling the blustery conditions. The strong trade winds that have swept across the islands in recent days will ease significantly, especially during Wednesday afternoon.
A light to moderate northerly flow will take over, keeping things calm at least through till Thursday.
Cloud and a few drops up north
Low cloud will pile up against the mountainous northern coasts around the 1,200-metre mark, forming a classic ‘sea of clouds’. On the flatter islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, this blanket will cover much of the land through the morning. A few isolated light drops are possible in the midlands of northern Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote, but nothing significant.
South-facing coasts and the high summits (above 1,500 metres) stay mostly clear and sunny.
Ocean conditions
The Atlantic will be rough on northern coasts with waves around 1 metre. On southern shores, expect slightly choppy ocean conditions. In the channels between islands, waves will stay below 1.5 metres.
Island-by-island forecast
Tenerife
Low clouds will build on the north coast around 1,200 metres, with a chance of a few light drops near Anaga. The south will see some local afternoon clouds, but plenty of sun. Winds are easing.
Gran Canaria
The ‘panza de burro’ returns to the northern side, with a chance of a few light drops in the midlands before clearing later. The south and the summit areas remain sunny. Temperatures are steady.
Lanzarote
Low cloud will cover the island, possibly producing a few light drops in the morning, then clearing. Winds ease. Temperatures between 20 and 25°C.
Fuerteventura
A grey start across both north and south, though the south will brighten up. Temperatures in Puerto del Rosario will range from 19 to 25°C.
La Palma
Variable cloud cover across the island, with thicker clouds in the north and east. Winds ease. Temperatures between 19 and 23°C.
La Gomera
Clouds will linger in the north, with the chance of a light drop in the midlands. Winds ease in the afternoon. Temperatures between 20 and 25°C.
El Hierro
Low clouds gather on the northern side from the morning, thinning out in the afternoon. Winds ease. Temperatures in Valverde between 14 and 18°C.
La Graciosa
Cloudy from early morning, with some breaks in the afternoon – though it won’t clear fully. Winds ease.
