The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has updated and extended the yellow and orange warnings active in the Canary Islands since the weekend. Specifically, the warnings are for high temperatures and affect five islands in the archipelago.

Gran Canaria: the only island with an orange alert
Gran Canaria is the only island with an orange heat warning, affecting the eastern, southern and western slopes of the island, where a maximum temperature of 38 degrees is expected. The alert mainly affects the southeast, south and west, where temperatures could locally reach 40°C. Night-time temperatures will barely drop below 26°C in some areas.
This warning is active on Monday until 8pm, and again on Tuesday from 10am until 8pm. On Wednesday it is downgraded to a yellow warning, active from 10am until 8pm. The north of the island and the summits will be under a yellow warning on Monday and Tuesday, where a maximum temperature of 34 degrees is expected, mainly affecting mid-level areas.
Tenerife
Tenerife has a yellow heat warning on Monday from 12pm until 8pm, affecting the eastern, southern and western slopes of the island, where a maximum temperature of 34°C is expected, mainly in mid-level areas.
On Tuesday, the warning is extended to the metropolitan area, the east, south, west and north of the island, active from 10am until 8pm. A maximum temperature of 36°C is expected, mainly affecting the southern and western slopes. Night-time temperatures will barely drop below 25°C in some areas. As things stand, no warnings are in place for the island on Wednesday.
La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro
La Palma will be under a yellow heat warning on Tuesday, active from 10am until 8pm, affecting the western slope of the island and the summits, where a maximum temperature of 34°C is expected, mainly in mid-level areas.
La Gomera will be under a yellow heat warning on Tuesday, active from 10am until 8pm, affecting the whole island, where a maximum temperature of 34°C is expected, mainly in mid-level areas.
El Hierro will be under a yellow heat warning on Tuesday, active from 10am until 8pm, affecting the whole island, where a maximum temperature of 34°C is expected, mainly in mid-level areas.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
Lanzarote has a yellow heat warning on Monday from 10am until 8pm, affecting the whole island, where a maximum temperature of 34°C is expected. The warning continues on Tuesday, active from 10am until 8pm, with a maximum temperature of 36°C expected. Night-time temperatures will barely drop below 25°C in some areas.
