Gran Canaria’s longest-running festival returns with a record-breaking line-up

The musical event that brings summer to a close in the Gran Canarian capital is about to burst into life. The LPA BMusic Festival, formerly known as LPA Beer, celebrates its thirteenth anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion it is expanding to four days and setting a new record for the number of bands performing. A total of 27 groups will take to the stage at Parque del Rincón, on the shores of the Atlantic, spanning a wide range of genres, from the heavy sounds of veterans Def Con Dos to the rock elegance of Maika Makovski and the distinctive essence of Madrid’s Alcal Norte.

Special mention must go to the line-up of emerging Canarian musicians who have reached the final of the LPA Emergente 2026 competition, having performed throughout the summer on the terrace stage at Las Arenas. As well as being the oldest festival in the Gran Canarian capital, LPA is the only one that backs local talent and champions it through a parallel festival of its own.

A festival with a philosophy of discovery

The LPA BMusic Festival has just unveiled its 13th edition, which will take place from 10 to 13 September at Parque Litoral El Rincón, with the most extensive programme in its history: four days, 27 bands and, in the words of María Ameneiros, head of communications, “a proposal that offers four different ways of experiencing music, without losing the identity that has defined the festival since its beginnings”.

The presentation took place at Terraza Las Arenas Music, the very stage on which the 30 bands selected for LPA Emergente have performed over the weekends of July and August, with the event compered by Super Eze, master of ceremonies for the competition. The festival’s director, Teresa Deudero, used the occasion to champion a way of building festivals that steers clear of the race to pile up big names, favouring instead a balanced bill, diversity and discovery. “It’s a festival without pretension, without VIP areas and without extravagance,” she said. “It’s a festival where you come because a band you like is playing, and you leave having discovered plenty of others.”

That philosophy is summed up in the festival’s own manifesto: “Discover music. No pretension. No VIPs. No labels.” As Ameneiros adds, this translates into a venue with no hierarchy between audiences and a programme designed so that styles, generations, established artists and emerging acts can all coexist within a single festival.

New opening night kicks things off on Thursday

The main new feature of this edition arrives on Thursday 10 September with the debut of LPA Sound Juernes, a new opening day with free entry that extends the festival to four days and opens its programme up to electronic music and new sounds. Canarian producer Ale Acosta will headline this first day alongside Cervatana and RATA, three acts that further strengthen the presence of music born in the Canary Islands.

Heavy hitters and homegrown talent on Friday

On Friday 11 September, LPA BMusic will show its most hard-hitting side with Angelus Apatrida, one of the leading names in the Spanish metal scene; Def Con Dos, celebrating 30 years of their album Alzheimer; Galician duo Bala; plus Loncha Velasco and Fuet. They will be joined by the first three finalists of LPA Emergente, who will make the step up from the Las Arenas stage to Parque Litoral El Rincón.

Saturday brings alt-rock, pop and fusion

On Saturday 12 September, the festival switches register once again with a day shaped by alternative rock, pop, fusion and those acts that stubbornly resist labels. Alcal Norte, who will play their only Canary Islands date of 2026, will share the bill with Parquesvr, Maika Makovski – celebrating twenty years in the business – Micromambo, La Milagrosa, and Aldara, winner of LPA Emergente 2025. The other three finalists of LPA Emergente 2026 complete Saturday’s line-up.

Sunday closes with a family-friendly finale

The festival draws to a close on Sunday 13 September with LPA Fun Family, a day designed to be shared across generations. Under the banner of being “a festival for everyone”, the venue will expand its programme of leisure activities, workshops and family entertainment, combined with live sets from Madafaka All Star, El Vega, Nueva Línea, Los Lola, Los Salvapantallas and Aseres.

Four very different days that, as Teresa Deudero points out, all respond to the same idea: “Come for the band you know, and leave talking about the one you’ve just discovered.”
