Summer Sunday forecast for Tenerife
Tenerife is set for a classic summer Sunday, with rising temperatures, mostly clear skies, and a light calima lingering in the upper atmosphere, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The weather will remain stable across most of the island.
Only intermittent cloud cover is expected in the lower areas of the north, below 500 or 600 metres, during the early and late hours of the day. On the southern coast, a few clouds may also appear in the early morning, though the rest of the day will be dominated by sunshine.
Temperatures rising above 30°C
The heat will build throughout the day, particularly in the mid-altitude areas and higher zones. Aemet forecasts a slight to moderate increase in temperatures, with highs exceeding 30 degrees Celsius on the eastern, southern, and western mid-altitude slopes of Tenerife.
In the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, thermometers will range between a low of 21 degrees and a high of 30 degrees Celsius.
Wind and calima details
Winds will blow from the north with moderate intensity and could produce strong gusts overnight at the northeastern and southwestern tips of the island. In the central peaks, the forecast points to moderate southwesterly winds. The calima will be light and remain at altitude, though it may be slightly more noticeable during the afternoon.
Health advice for residents and visitors
Given these conditions, authorities recommend avoiding physical exertion during the central hours of the day, protecting yourself from the sun, and staying well hydrated, particularly for the elderly, children, and other vulnerable groups.
