Freiduría La Mareta: Unmissable seafood in Santa Cruz

A seafood spot worth queuing for

Santa Cruz de Tenerife has no shortage of spots for a great lunch, and one that stands out is Freiduría La Mareta. This eatery has become a must-stop for anyone in the capital looking to enjoy quality seafood and dishes that keep you coming back for more.

Content creators @guachinchesmodernos recently visited the restaurant and shared their experience with followers, highlighting both the quality of the food and how busy the place gets. “It’s rare to find no queue, but it’s worth the visit,” they say.

From ceviche to lobster croquettes

The venue focuses on offering a dining experience where fish, shellfish and fresh produce are the stars of the show. On their visit, the foodie couple opted for the cockle ceviche, one of the most eye-catching items on the menu, made with avocado, onion and millo (toasted corn). They also tried the shrimp fritters.

One of the dishes they consider unmissable is the lobster and prawn croquettes. “We ordered one each because we were going to order more things – otherwise we’d have had a dozen,” they comment in the video. Another creation that earned praise was the prawn salad (ensaladilla de langostinos).

Fideuà and XXL octopus

As a main course, they chose the seafood fideuà, made with prawns and squid. “If you’re in the centre of Santa Cruz, you can’t miss the great plan of visiting the market and then eating here,” they say. The content creators didn’t order the octopus, but they show it in the video and explain that it’s served with sweet potato underneath and the octopus tentacle on top. “The octopus here is XXL – order it by the tentacle, don’t even think about ordering the whole thing,” they warn.

Wine, desserts and all the details

In addition to its food, the venue has a wide wine selection, with over 60 references available by the glass, a range that complements a menu focused on the flavours of the sea. The meal finishes with a dessert selection that highlights the torrija (a type of French toast) and the mille-feuille, two must-haves for sweet lovers.

Freiduría La Mareta is located in the Mercado Nuestra Señora de África, on Calle Darias y Padrón, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It holds 4.8 stars on Google, a rating that reflects the satisfaction of those who have visited. It is open every day from 12:00 to 17:00 for lunch service. The content creators remind customers that they take reservations by phone and via WhatsApp.
