The so-called ‘gorrillas’ are once again at the centre of controversy in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This time, a scene filmed in the car park of the Parque Marítimo shows two illegal parking attendants arguing in front of several tourists over who should keep the tip after helping them park.
Raised voices over who ‘took’ the car
The moment was captured by a witness, who later shared the video. In the footage, the two men can be seen accusing each other of having “brought in” the vehicle, raising their voices as they demand money from the visitors, who had just parked in the area.
Debate reignites over unofficial parking attendants
The scene has reopened the debate over the presence of illegal parking attendants at various points in the Tenerife capital, even though the practice is banned under local regulations. Residents and drivers have been reporting similar incidents for years in busy spots such as Cabo Llanos, the area around the Recinto Ferial, and the Parque Marítimo itself.
