Iconic hotel reopens with new name and look
One of the most recognisable buildings on the Puerto de la Cruz skyline is back in business. The historic Maritim Hotel Tenerife has reopened its doors under the name Precise Resort Tenerife following a complete transformation costing more than 10 million euros, with an additional one million euros committed to finishing the renovation during 2027.
Perched above the Atlantic cliffs
The resort, located on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, held its official launch event on Friday, attended by institutional representatives, tourism industry figures and the media. The property currently offers 153 rooms with views of the Atlantic, the Orotava Valley or Mount Teide, along with a spa, swimming pools, sports courts and a dining concept inspired by Tenerife’s historic connections with Atlantic cultures.
Humboldt-inspired gardens
One of the standout features of the project is the redesign of the resort’s gardens, which draw inspiration from Alexander von Humboldt’s historic links with the island.
A vote of confidence for northern Tenerife
The vice-president and tourism councillor for the Tenerife Cabildo, Lope Afonso, praised the reopening as a project that “represents the model of tourist renewal we want for Tenerife, betting on quality, modernisation and differentiation of the destination while respecting its identity and surroundings.” He also highlighted “the importance of the project in strengthening the accommodation stock and investor confidence in Puerto de la Cruz and the north of the island.”
Puerto de la Cruz’s tourism councillor, Desiré Díaz Torres, described the opening as “a show of confidence from an international operator in the destination and in the tourism potential of northern Tenerife.”
Part of a wider modernisation push
The reopening forms part of the ongoing tourism modernisation process in Puerto de la Cruz, which aims to strengthen the positioning of northern Tenerife through an offering more closely tied to the environment, the landscape and local identity.
