Tenerife’s Weekend Guide: Film, Fairs and Football

A Weekend Packed with Culture and Entertainment

Tenerife continues to offer a full schedule of weekend activities, thanks to a combined public and private sector effort to keep the island buzzing with leisure options. From cinema and comedy to sports, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a different kind of weekend. If you were thinking of staying in, you might want to rethink your plans and pick out an outfit instead, as you won’t want to miss these events.

An Award-Nominated Film at TEA

TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is screening ‘Un poeta’ this weekend at 7:00 pm. This is the latest work by Colombian filmmaker Simón Mesa Soto. Nominated for a Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film, it presents an intimate and visually powerful story about identity, resistance, and displacement. Starring Ubeimar Rios, Rebeca Andrade, Guillermo Cardona, Allison Correa, and Margarita Soto, ‘Un poeta’ is a blend of drama and social comedy shot on 16mm film, giving it a nostalgic and authentic visual texture. The story is set in Medellín and follows Óscar Restrepo, a 56-year-old man stuck in the cliché of the doomed poet.

April Fair Brings Andalusia to La Laguna

La Laguna will be adorned with polka dots, frills, and flowers this weekend for the celebration of the April Fair 2026. This event has established itself as the leading showcase of Andalusian culture in the Canary Islands. The Parque de Las Mantecas will be transformed into an authentic fairground where music, dance, and gastronomy take centre stage. The fair will be open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Comedy Across the Island

The Teatro Leal in La Laguna hosts the show ‘Humo’ this Saturday. In it, the Lanzarote-born comedian Kike Pérez tries to explain how he deals with the pressure of social media and the demand for immediacy. Through funny anecdotes and raw reflections, Pérez analyses modern society with the aim of “accepting it, living it, and laughing at it”. There will be two performances, at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

The municipality of Candelaria also has a date with humour this weekend at the Carcajada Candelaria Fest 2026. Comedians Dario López and Aarón Gómez will perform on Saturday at 9:00 pm in the square of the Punta Larga Shopping Centre, with free admission.

Sporting Action: Football and a Night Run

The sporting highlight of the week arrives this Saturday with CD Tenerife, who will face Arenas at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. The match kicks off at 5:30 pm.

Also on Saturday, the popular Binter NightRun will take place through the streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
