A new season begins at Teatro Leal

Teatro Leal in La Laguna kicks off its 2026-2027 cultural season next Wednesday, 2 September, with a rich programme of music, comedy, theatre and dance. Throughout the month, the stage will welcome a host of notable performers, including comedian Petite Lorena, Cuban band Septeto Santiaguero, singer José Manuel Ramos and dancer Laura Morales, in a line-up that blends local Canarian talent with national and international acts.

Comedy takes centre stage first

The Palms-born comedian Petite Lorena will reopen the venue after its summer break with her show Tremenda on 2, 3 and 4 September. Staying with a Canarian flavour, on 14 September Ayoze Pérez brings his monologue Pal que no haya visto otra cosa, está bien.

September also sees the return of the Reíslas and Fuera Broma festivals, which bring to Teatro Leal comedians such as Pedro Ángel Roca, Isabel Rey and Carmen Romero on 18, 19 and 20 September.

Music across the genres

Live music features prominently in the programme. Concerts open on 5 September with the Cuban son sounds of Septeto Santiaguero, followed by Arahal, un lugar donde descansar on 8 September. On 10 September, there is a performance of Carl Orff’s popular cantata Carmina Burana; on 12 September, Javi Hernández presents Laguneando; and on 13 September, José Manuel Ramos takes to the stage with Todo de mí.

The music programme rounds off on 24 September with Honduran artist Kim Simmons, who headlines the first session of the new season of Efecto Laguna. This series, promoted by the Autonomous Organisation for Musical Activities, aims to showcase local and regional artists.

Dance and theatre highlights

Keeping up its support for and commitment to the performing arts, the theatre continues its regular dance slot Danza en Breve, which in September features Ser pastora, by choreographer and performer Laura Morales. Contemporary dance also features in Anacaona, by artists Acerina Amador and Fernando López.

Four theatrical productions take to the stage during September: Una para cinco, by Habemus Teatro (6 September); Pedro, una rebeldía de silencios, inspired by the life and work of poet Pedro García Cabrera (20 September); children’s show El mundo del revés, based on the film Inside Out (Sunday 27); and La inmortalidad, a Delirium Teatro production set in La Laguna during the Spanish Transition (Wednesday 30).

Opera and family fun

One of the season’s major draws arrives on 25 and 26 September with The Golden Dragon, by Péter Eötvös, a new opera production staged by Ópera de Tenerife as part of its Opera in Miniature series. Also returning on 20 September is Sun Dance Family Sessions, an activity aimed at families that combines electronic music, dance and wellbeing.
