Ivy Queen confirmed for opening night
Excitement is building for what promises to be one of the musical highlights of the year in the Canary Islands. The organisers of the Tenerife Cook Music Fest have officially confirmed that Puerto Rican artist Ivy Queen has been added to the line-up for the first day, taking place on 16 July in the port area of the Tenerife capital. With this late announcement, the festival has now finalised the programme for an opening night dedicated entirely to urban sounds, bringing together living legends and current stars of the genre on the same stage.
Universally regarded as one of the great global pioneers of reggaeton, Ivy Queen will bring a touch of history and empowerment to a day that was already close to selling out. The first day’s line-up now reads as a true showcase of international stars performing in a run of consecutive sets:
- Don Omar – the “King of Kings” headlines a historic night as he returns to Canary Islands stages.
- Ivy Queen – the “Cosa Nostra” of urban music will get the capital dancing.
- Myke Towers – one of the most-streamed and most successful artists on current global charts.
- Farruko – the creator of massive anthems, bringing his trademark fusion of rhythms.
Three themed nights of Latin music
The Tenerife Cook Music Fest has structured this edition into three distinct themed days to cover the full spectrum of Latin rhythms. The festival kicks off on 16 July with the urban sounds of Don Omar, Ivy Queen, Myke Towers and Farruko. The following day, 17 July, takes on a strong Latin flavour with the highly anticipated performances of Chayanne, Olga Tañón, Greeicy, Emily Estefan and the group Gente de Zona. The grand finale on 18 July is a day of pure tropical roots, headlined by major names in the genre such as Elvis Crespo, Luis Enrique, Tito Nieves, Sergio Vargas and Hermanos Rosario.
Economic boost for Tenerife
Beyond the artists on stage, the festival is being positioned as a major driver for the islands’ economy and tourism. The organisers have ambitious forecasts, expecting to attract more than 80,000 attendees across the three days of concerts at the port venue.
Tickets for 17 and 18 July, along with all practical information on access, timings and services, are available on the official event website: cookmusicfest.es. The Tenerife Cook Music Fest enjoys extensive institutional and corporate backing, including support from the Government of the Canary Islands (through its departments for Tourism, Trade and Youth), the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development, the Cabildo of Tenerife, Turismo de Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council via its Development Society, the Port Authority, Zona Centro and the Fauca federation.
