On 28, 29 and 30 August, the Explanada del Muelle will once again become a meeting point between the Canary Islands and Bavaria with the Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz, which reaches its 53rd edition this year.

Organised by the Centro de Iniciativas y Turismo de Puerto de la Cruz (CIT), the event will bring the Bavarian Week to a close, a celebration that has been bringing German music and culture to different parts of the town since last Sunday. Across three days, residents and visitors alike will be able to enjoy a programme combining live music, Bavarian tradition, food, beer, family-friendly activities and entertainment for all ages, keeping alive a cultural exchange whose origins date back to 1973.

Entry to the Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz will be free of charge for all three days.

Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier takes centre stage

One of the major highlights of this 53rd edition will be found in the beer steins. This year’s event will feature Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, a beer brewed especially for the Munich Oktoberfest and one of the official brews that will later be served at that renowned celebration. Its arrival in Puerto de la Cruz means the public can sample it before the Munich festivities have even begun, strengthening in a very special way the town’s historic connection with Bavaria.

Paulaner is one of just six traditional breweries authorised to serve beer at the Munich Oktoberfest, making its presence in Puerto de la Cruz a genuine taste of the original Bavarian celebration. The Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier will be available in limited quantities, set to become one of the most sought-after attractions of this edition.

Live music and street bands

Music will once again be one of the pillars of the celebration. The Bavarian atmosphere will be provided by the Reinheitsgebot Orchestra, travelling from Germany, who have been performing concerts and street parades across Puerto de la Cruz throughout Bavarian Week. They will be joined by various other ensembles bringing music beyond the main stage and directly to the crowds.

On 28 and 29 August, the Txaranga Band Tocats return, a group that knows the atmosphere of the Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz well and will once again wander through the venue involving attendees in their performance. Friday 28 will also see the 101 Brass Band join the line-up, bringing their particular blend of brass, percussion, rhythm and energy to the Explanada del Muelle. The closing day, Sunday 30, will feature The Vid Band, providing the soundtrack to the final day of celebrations.

Bavarian flavours and family fun

The experience is rounded off with a wide selection of food and drink, designed to bring some of the spirit of the celebration to the table. Throughout the weekend, visitors can sample German and Central European cuisine alongside other options for a varied offering. Pretzels, sausages and various other dishes will accompany the beer and music, transforming the Explanada del Muelle into a great space for gathering and coming together over the three days.

On Sunday 30 August, the event will have a particularly family-friendly focus with the Oktoberfest Infantil, aimed at children aged 4 to 14. Activities run in two sessions, from 12:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 18:00, and will include face painting, arts and crafts, traditional games, sack races, a waiter race, hoop-la and cooperative games, finishing with a children’s mini disco. It is an opportunity for little ones to experience the festive and cultural spirit of the Oktoberfest through play and creativity.

Dogtoberfest returns for man’s best friend

Sunday also sees the return of one of the event’s most special initiatives: Dogtoberfest, a day that lets you enjoy the Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz with the four-legged members of the family in tow. The venue will provide water stations plus shaded rest areas, with measures aimed at promoting animal welfare and harmonious coexistence among all visitors.

The organisers remind guests to keep animals on a lead or in a carrier where appropriate at all times, to adopt the necessary safety measures, avoid areas close to food and the stage, not allow dogs on tables, and keep the venue clean. The initiative encourages pet owners to participate responsibly and with respect for other attendees.

Opening hours and the end of Bavarian Week

The Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz opens its doors on Friday afternoon and continues throughout the weekend with the following hours: Friday 28 August: 18:00 to 01:00; Saturday 29 August: 12:00 to 02:00; Sunday 30 August: 12:00 to 20:00.

The celebration marks the grand finale of a Bavarian Week that began on Sunday 23 August and has taken its programme to venues including the Costa Martiánez tourist complex, the streets of Puerto de la Cruz and other locations in the town, through concerts, street parades and activities.

More than five decades of tradition

Beyond the programme itself, the 2026 edition once again highlights a story that began more than five decades ago and has made Bavarian Week and the Oktoberfest a permanent fixture in Puerto de la Cruz’s cultural and tourist calendar. The project was born with the aim of strengthening ties between the Canary Islands and Germany through friendship, culture and tourism, a philosophy that remains as relevant today as it was 53 editions ago.

The event is made possible thanks to the collaboration of public institutions, private companies, associations, professionals and volunteers, as well as the support of sponsors and partners who help maintain and expand the programme year after year.
