Supernova 2026 draws record crowd in Tenerife
18 April 2026. The third edition of the Supernova 2026 Trade and Business Support Congress took place this weekend in Tenerife, achieving a full house with over 1,000 registered attendees and cementing its status as one of the island’s premier business gatherings. The main event, held on Saturday at the Pirámide de Arona, brought together business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals for a programme focused on business growth, digitalisation, and the evolution of commerce.
Keynote address and institutional opening
The congress kicked off with a keynote speech by Emilio Duró, which centred on attitude and decision-making in the business environment. This was followed by the official opening, featuring a participatory dialogue where real questions from attendees were put to public representatives. The format enabled a direct conversation between the business community and the authorities. Taking part in this session were Rosa Dávila, President of the Cabildo of Tenerife; Lope Afonso, Vice-President of the Cabildo; Krysten Martín, Councillor for Trade and Business Support; Gustavo González de Vega, Vice-Councillor for Economy and Internationalisation of the Government of the Canary Islands; Fátima Lemes, Mayor of Arona; and Arianna Gassmann, President of the Tenerife Young Entrepreneurs Association (AJE).
Voices from the congress
Rosa Dávila highlighted: “Supernova allows us to work with real reference cases in the Canary Islands and focus on the major challenges of entrepreneurship and trade, such as digitalisation, the generational handover, or administrative simplification. The economy is moving forward, but there are still many barriers for those who want to start or consolidate their projects. This congress helps us identify them and move forward with real solutions.”
The Vice-President of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, stated: “This third edition of Supernova once again places business owners and entrepreneurs at the centre, as the driving forces behind Tenerife’s development. It is a space that not only encourages reflection but also connects with the trends transforming the market and with real examples that inspire those thinking about starting a business.”
Krysten Martín, Councillor for Trade and Business Support, noted: “Supernova was born with a clear objective: to offer useful and applicable tools to the island’s business community. We wanted to design a congress that combines inspiration with practical training, bringing attendees closer to both national reference figures and real cases from their own environment. Our challenge is for participants to leave with concrete ideas they can take directly to their businesses.”
Gustavo González de Vega remarked: “For the third consecutive year, Supernova has managed to bring together entrepreneurs, self-employed workers, and young people with a common goal: to develop their projects and generate economic activity in the Canary Islands. This type of meeting is key to boosting entrepreneurship and strengthening the business fabric.”
The Mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, said: “It is a source of pride that Supernova is becoming established in Arona and continues to grow as a benchmark space for entrepreneurship. It represents a great opportunity for the municipality’s business community and for all those who want to develop their activity and keep growing.”
According to Arianna Gassmann, President of the Tenerife Young Entrepreneurs Association: “At AJE, we champion a format that goes beyond inspiration and truly supports those who are starting or managing a business. Supernova is a space to share experiences, resolve doubts, and generate connections that provide real value. The response to this edition, with full capacity, confirms that there is a clear need for this type of gathering.”
Workshops, panels, and practical insights
The day continued with talks and panel discussions focused on key areas for business development, featuring Daniela Goicoechea, co-founder of Goiko and Brandcrops, alongside real cases linked to the local business scene. Topics covered included the role of social media in business growth, the generational handover, and strategies for scaling a company. In addition, the congress introduced more dynamic formats, such as a live recording of the podcast Tengo un Plan, which interviewed Paco Tormo, co-founder of Singularu, bringing the event to new audiences.
Record participation and new pre-event day
This year’s edition was marked by high participation, with over 1,000 registered attendees filling the available capacity and reflecting growing interest in this type of practically oriented event. As a new feature, Supernova 2026 introduced a pre-event day on Friday 17 April, focused on more specific and personalised training. During this first session, masterclasses and one-to-one mentoring sessions were held, allowing attendees to work directly on specific aspects of their businesses with specialists in areas such as marketing, sales, branding, digitalisation, and access to financing. Standout sessions included a masterclass by Daniela Goicoechea on applying artificial intelligence in business, and another by Paco Tormo on business growth and scaling companies.
Childcare and networking: a new focus on work-life balance
Another distinctive element of this edition was the introduction of a childcare service, making it easier for professionals with children to attend and reinforcing the congress’s commitment to work-life balance. Networking once again proved to be one of the cornerstones of the event, with dedicated spaces designed to foster connections between attendees and generate collaboration opportunities in a close-knit and practical environment. Supernova 2026, promoted by the Cabildo of Tenerife in collaboration with the Tenerife Young Entrepreneurs Association (AJE), has thus strengthened its position as the main meeting point for business owners and entrepreneurs on the island.
