Baile de Magos tables sell out in record time

The 720 tables made available for Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Baile de Magos on Saturday 2 May sold out in just 20 minutes after online reservations opened at 9am on the city council’s Festivals website. The Festivals Department has confirmed that, half an hour before the reservation system went live, a virtual queue was already in place for those hoping to secure one of the 720 tables, each seating ten people.

How to book and what it costs

For this year’s edition, all reservations had to be made exclusively through the Festivals website, at a cost of €15 per table, with a maximum of two tables per person. The city’s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, remarked that the speed at which the tables and chairs were snapped up “clearly demonstrates the enormous interest in this key date within the Fiestas de Mayo programme”.

Location and layout of the event

The usual urban setting for the Baile de Magos lies between Antonio Domínguez Alfonso Street (La Noria), Nifú-Nifá Street, Campo Castro, Bravo Murillo Street, as well as Europa Square and the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Concepción. Since last year, Candelaria Street and Santo Domingo Street have also been included. The venue will be cordoned off, and entry is free through any of the designated checkpoints, where attendees will be checked to ensure they are wearing the correct traditional Canarian costume, the city council added.

Music and entertainment schedule

Activities begin at 9pm, and the traditional ‘bailes de taifa’ will take place on stages set up in Europa Square and Campo Castro, with entertainment from 10pm provided by various folk groups, according to the council. Meanwhile, the Charco de la Casona stage, located next to Cabo Bridge, will offer a traditional street party atmosphere, with performances from several popular bands from midnight onwards.
