Hidden gem in Arona

Finding an Italian restaurant that goes beyond pizza and pasta is not always easy. However, in Tenerife, specifically in La Camella (Arona), there is an establishment that is committed to homemade Italian cooking with traditional Puglia recipes taking centre stage. Il Forno – La Camella was recently visited by food content creator @elsiciliano_tenerife, who did not hesitate to recommend the experience to his followers.

“This restaurant is like eating in an Italian home,” he said. The visit began with the Capricciosa pizza, made with tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, artichokes and black olives. “A classic pizza that my grandmother always used to order,” he commented.

Traditional Italian dishes

Among the dishes they tried was also the caponata, a traditional Italian recipe made with aubergine in a sweet and sour Sicilian style. The veal scaloppine with lemon is, in his words, “a very typical Italian dish that you must order if you like meat”.

As for pasta, they enjoyed orecchiette with porcini mushrooms, sausage and burrata, a dish deeply rooted in Italian gastronomy which they savoured with every bite. To round off the dining experience, the content creator opted for a pistachio cheesecake that was “absolutely delicious”.

Ambience and hospitality

Beyond the dishes themselves, one of the aspects he highlighted was the atmosphere of the establishment and the friendly, welcoming service from the staff. “Overall, we ate very well. A simple, homemade place without too much fuss, the kind where what really matters is on the plate,” he explained.

Location and opening hours

The restaurant is located at Carretera General, 12B, in La Camella. It holds a 4.6-star rating on Google, a score that demonstrates the satisfaction of those who have visited the establishment and enjoyed its artisan creations. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, serving lunch and dinner from 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 11pm. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays to give staff a break.
