New high-speed ferry to link Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife

Baleària, the company that recently acquired Armas Trasmediterránea, has announced it is relocating a high-speed ferry to the Canary Islands to cover routes between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Morro Jable and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In a statement, the firm confirmed the vessel is the Mercedes Pinto, which it says will strengthen maritime connectivity between the three islands “with a service proposition based on eco-efficiency, operational reliability, and an improved passenger experience”.

Modernisation of the fleet

The arrival of the Mercedes Pinto is part of Baleària Canarias’ fleet expansion and modernisation plan, which aims to introduce more innovative, technologically advanced vessels tailored to the mobility needs of residents, tourists and logistics companies.

“This addition reinforces our commitment to quality maritime connectivity in the Canary Islands, where sea transport plays an essential role in territorial cohesion, inter-island mobility and economic activity,” the company added.

Docking trials in the coming days

The vessel arrived in the Canary Islands this Wednesday and is scheduled to carry out docking trials in various ports across the archipelago over the next few days.
