Helicopter rescue on the Güigüí trail
A helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) airlifted an injured hiker from the trail rising from Güigüí beach towards Tasartico in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Gran Canaria. The casualty had sustained a lower limb injury that prevented him from continuing under his own power.
Difficult terrain prompts aerial response
Owing to the challenging nature of the ground, the aerial resource was deployed to carry out the evacuation. Once the man had been stabilised and secured, he was flown directly to the helipad at Doctor Negrín Hospital to receive the necessary medical care. His current condition is not yet known.
