Fire pre-alert still active on Tenerife
The Cabildo of Tenerife confirmed on Friday that the pre-alert situation for wildfire risk remains in force, meaning the preventive measures designed to minimise any chance of ignition remain active. In a statement, the island’s Security and Emergencies councillor, Blanca Pérez, warned that although weather conditions have improved, the fire risk ‘has not disappeared’, and she urged the public to ‘continue acting with prudence and responsibility’.
Weather improves but caution urged
The deactivation of the alert level responds to the favourable evolution of meteorological conditions, with a drop in temperatures and an improvement in humidity and wind parameters. However, the Cabildo reminds residents that the countryside remains especially vulnerable during the summer season, making it essential to exercise maximum caution.
Ongoing restrictions on fires and machinery
In this context, the following prohibitions remain in place: lighting any outdoor fire, carrying out burns in forest areas, and using machinery or tools that could generate sparks. The Cabildo thanked the public for the responsibility they have shown over recent days and called on them to maintain this cautious attitude while the pre-alert remains active.
‘Public collaboration essential’
‘The collaboration of the population is fundamental to preventing wildfires and protecting the island’s natural heritage,’ the authorities warned. The island corporation confirmed it will continue to monitor meteorological developments on an ongoing basis and will adapt preventive measures according to the decisions taken by the competent authorities and the risk conditions existing at any given time.
