New adult-only hotel opens on Tenerife coast
The coastline of San Miguel de Abona has welcomed a new tourist establishment with the opening of The Salmar, a four-star superior hotel exclusively for adults. The complex has been jointly acquired by Grupo Fuertes and Satocan, with the latter taking on its management. The deal marks the first venture by the Canary Islands-based company into Tenerife within its hotel division.
Coastal-inspired transformation
Situated right on the seafront, the property has undergone a thorough transformation to adapt it to a accommodation concept inspired by its coastal surroundings. The project has preserved the original white facade of the building while completely renovating its interiors with a homely design aimed at conveying a sense of comfort and intimacy. Guests have direct access from the hotel to the promenade that connects San Miguel de Abona with the fishing village of Los Abrigos.
Distinctive dining and local heritage
According to the promoting companies, the opening forms part of a strategy to offer a differentiated product closely linked to the landscape and identity of the destination. In line with this approach, the complex will soon incorporate the Camarote restaurant, specialising in grilled cuisine and seafood. The restaurant will have its own independent entrance from the seafront avenue to encourage visits from non-hotel guests as well. The project has also preserved heritage elements from the area, such as the image of San Blas, the local patron saint, which has been relocated next to the main entrance to ensure it remains accessible to residents and visitors alike.
Carefully selected team
The recruitment process for the hotel recently brought together around 80 candidates, with the aim of building a team focused on providing personalised service. With this opening, Satocan extends its established hotel track record in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura to Tenerife, while Grupo Fuertes strengthens its presence in the tourism sector.
Part of wider south Tenerife renewal
The addition of The Salmar adds to the ongoing renewal of accommodation in southern Tenerife, where private investment continues to back higher-quality establishments and specialised experiences targeting higher-value tourism.
