Tenerife set for cloudier and cooler Saturday
Tenerife faces a change in weather this Saturday, marked by increased cloud cover, the possibility of light rain, and a drop in maximum temperatures, particularly inland. The forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) points to a fresher day in mid-altitude and high areas, following several days of heat in the Canary Islands.
In the north of the island, cloudy skies will predominate, with generally light precipitation, especially during the morning. Rain is not expected to be heavy, but it may create a more humid and fresh atmosphere in municipalities exposed to the trade winds. In the high peaks, the sky will remain clear, while the rest of Tenerife will see cloudy intervals that will increase during the afternoon due to the formation of cloud from daytime heating. Occasional precipitation cannot be ruled out, especially in the southeast.
Temperature drop inland
Minimum temperatures will barely change in low-lying areas, although they may drop in the peaks. Maximum temperatures will remain largely unchanged on the coast, but will fall moderately to noticeably inland, making for a less hot day in mid-altitude areas. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the forecast places the thermometer between 22 and 27 degrees, with mild conditions and a light to moderate northerly wind. On the southern slope of the Anaga massif, the wind may blow with slightly more intensity during the early morning and at the end of the day.
Similar pattern in other islands
The pattern will be similar across other islands. In Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, the northern areas will see cloudy skies and light rain during the first half of the day. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, there will also be cloudy intervals, with a low probability of light rain in the north and west during the morning. In the south of the islands, the weather will be more open, although cloudiness from daytime heating may grow in mid-altitude areas facing south and southeast during the afternoon. Aemet does not rule out the occasional shower in those sectors.
