Tenerife set to bake with 34°C heat on Monday

Hot Monday ahead for Tenerife

Tenerife is set to bake this Monday, 6 July, with temperatures expected to reach 34°C in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and in mid-altitude areas of the west, south and east of the island, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Skies will be mostly clear or cloudless, with the exception of low-lying northern areas below 400-500 metres, where cloudy intervals are expected at the beginning and end of the day. Some cloud may also appear along the western coastline during the early hours.

Calima dust and temperature details

Aemet forecasts light calima dust at altitude, though it is not expected to significantly disrupt the otherwise stable conditions. The air will feel hotter in mid-altitude areas and the metropolitan zone, particularly on the eastern side. Temperatures will see little change along the northern, western and southern coastlines. Elsewhere, however, slight to moderate increases are expected.

Aside from the 34°C forecast for the capital and the western, southern and eastern mid-altitude areas, temperatures will also exceed 30°C in northern mid-altitude zones and, more locally, along the eastern coastline.

Wind conditions

Winds will be moderate from the north. During the night, they may become strong in the far northeast and southwest of Tenerife. In the central peaks, winds will be light to moderate from the southwest.
