New road diversions in Arucas for final resurfacing phase
The Canary Islands Directorate General for Road Infrastructure has announced new traffic diversions in the municipality of Arucas (Gran Canaria) between 22 and 26 June, for the final phase of resurfacing works on the GC-20 ring road. According to the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility, the works will take place during daytime hours, between 08:00 and 18:00, to lay the final surface layer of the road.
Traffic closures and alternative routes
As a result, temporary closures and alternative itineraries will be necessary on the section between kilometre points 3+400 and 4+870 of the road. The work schedule has planned for Monday 22 June the closure of the entry and exit slip roads between the Visvique and Santidad roundabouts. On Tuesday 23 June, the disruption will move to the connecting slip roads between these two roundabouts and the access road to Santidad from Cardones, which will close from 09:00 to ensure traffic flows smoothly early in the morning.
No works will take place on Wednesday 24 June due to the San Juan holiday. On Thursday 25 June, work will focus on the Visvique roundabout, leading to the temporary closure of all its access and entry points; alternative diversions have been designed via the GC-3, GC-43 and GC-303. The works will conclude on Friday 26 June with the resurfacing of the sections merging onto the GC-20 and the access to Arucas via the Santidad roundabout.
