The sweetest spot in Puerto de la Cruz
Cinnamon rolls, also known as kanelbullar in their native Sweden, have become one of the most popular sweet treats of the moment, and Tenerife now has its own specialist spot. Chiquito Rollo, a bakery located in Puerto de la Cruz, is dedicated to serving these soft, spiced buns daily, with a rotating menu of toppings and flavours.
A Swedish classic with a Canarian twist
While the cinnamon roll is currently taking the world by storm, its origins lie in Sweden, where it is known as the kanelbulle and even has its own official day: 4 October. The classic recipe calls for a fluffy dough made from flour, milk, butter, egg, sugar and cinnamon, rolled up with a sweet filling and baked until it achieves its signature tender texture. In its traditional Swedish form, it is often topped with pearl sugar and flavoured with cardamom, rather than the frosting favoured elsewhere.
At Chiquito Rollo, the team works daily to put their own spin on the classic, offering a range of toppings so customers can pick their favourite flavour.
What’s on the menu
The menu at Chiquito Rollo boasts a wide variety of flavours and toppings. Among the most popular options are:

- Ferrero Rocher
- Pistachio
- Maria biscuits with vanilla custard
- KitKat
- Twix
- Nocilla (hazelnut spread)
- Filipinos (chocolate-covered biscuits)

The bestseller, however, is the cinnamon roll topped with cream and caramelised Lotus Biscoff biscuit. And sitting at the top of the charts is the Kinder Bueno version, perfect for chocolate lovers.
Prices range from €3 to €4, depending on the topping chosen.
More than just cinnamon rolls
Cinnamon rolls aren’t the only sweet treats on offer. The menu also includes classic palmiers (also known as palm leaves or elephant ears), either plain or topped. On the drinks side, customers can choose from milkshakes, tropical fruit smoothies, or cold drinks. Everything is designed for enjoying a sweet indulgence at any time of day.
