Hidden gem on a Tenerife roadside

There is a place in Tenerife that countless people pass every day without realising it hides some of the most substantial sandwiches on the island. Bocaditos Chafira is a food truck that has become an essential stop for anyone after overflowing fillings and a portion size that is not for the faint-hearted.

Content creators @guachinchesmodernos visited the establishment and did not hesitate to recommend the sandwiches to their followers. “We’ve passed by here countless times and never stopped to try their almost kilo-sized sandwich,” they confess.

The Frankenstein challenge

During their visit, they opted for two sandwiches. One of them was the aptly named ‘Frankenstein’ (€11), a name that “I imagine is because it’s an absolute beast,” jokes Joana. Eating the sandwich turns into a real challenge due to the sheer quantity of ingredients, including pork, beef, pork loin, bacon, onion and egg. “This could be the most stuffed sandwich we’ve ever eaten,” they comment.

They also tried the mixto (€7.50), a simpler yet equally generous sandwich. It comes with beef, pork, cheese, tomato and red onion, and they assure that “it’s really tasty, absolutely delicious.”

“We’re warning you that one person can almost never finish one on their own – we couldn’t manage both,” they caution their followers.

A record-breaking success

Such is the success of their sandwiches that the establishment claims their daily record stands at 160 to 170 sandwiches made in a single day. They also offer special options such as the pata sandwich, available on certain days of the week, alongside other creations like choripán.

Location and opening hours

Bocaditos Chafira is located at Calle Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, plot 211, in Oroteanda Baja, next to Sierra y González. It boasts a 4.9-star rating on Google, demonstrating the satisfaction of those who have stopped to sample its hearty creations.

The food truck opens Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, while Saturdays see reduced hours from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. On Sundays, the food truck remains closed to give staff a well-earned rest.
