Tuesday: rain, wind, and rough seas arrive
A change in the weather is set for Tuesday. A weather front will move in from the northwest around midday, first affecting La Palma before crossing the more mountainous islands during the afternoon. It will bring rainfall, primarily to northern areas, which should ease by the evening. Temperatures will drop, and winds will intensify, particularly on leeward slopes. The Atlantic will become rough, with a significant ocean swell.
General outlook
Both daytime highs and overnight lows will be cooler today. A moderate northwesterly wind will blow across the archipelago, with stronger gusts possible in leeward areas. Sea conditions will deteriorate with a combined swell. Waves could exceed 3.5 metres in northern waters, and during the early hours, may reach 4-5 metres on the western and northern coasts of La Palma and El Hierro.
