Tenerife’s Roadside Secret: The Kilo-Size Sandwich Challenge
On Tenerife, there is a spot thousands drive past daily, unaware it hides some of the island’s most substantial sandwiches. This is Bocaditos Chafira, a food truck that has become an essential stop for those seeking overflowing combinations and a size not suitable for everyone.
Content Creators Put the Legend to the Test
The content creators behind @guachinchesmodernos visited the establishment and did not hesitate to recommend the sandwiches to their followers. “We’ve passed by here thousands of times and had never stopped to try their nearly one-kilo sandwich,” they confessed. During their visit, they opted for two of the giant offerings.
The “Frankenstein” and a Classic Mixto
One was the so-called ‘Frankenstein’ (€11), a name they joked “I imagine is because it’s a monstrosity.” Eating the sandwich becomes a real challenge due to the quantity of ingredients, which include pork, beef, pork loin, bacon, onion, and egg. “This could be the most stuffed sandwich we’ve ever eaten,” they commented.
They also tried the *mixto* (€7.50), a simpler but equally generously filled sandwich with beef, pork, cheese, tomato, and red onion, assuring followers it is “really good, super tasty.”
A Warning to Hungry Visitors
“We must warn you that it’s almost impossible for one person to finish one; we couldn’t manage both of them,” they advised their audience. The success of their sandwiches is such that the establishment claims its record for a single day is between 160 and 170 sandwiches made.
Special Options and Practical Information
They also offer special options like the trotters sandwich, available on certain days of the week, and other proposals like *choripán*. Bocaditos Chafira is located at Calle Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, plot 211, Oroteanda Baja, next to Sierra y González. It boasts a 4.9-star rating on Google, demonstrating the satisfaction of those who have stopped to try one of its hefty creations.
It is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, while on Saturdays it reduces its hours to 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The food truck remains closed on Sundays for staff rest.
