A platform of residents, businesses, fishermen and cultural groups in Los Cristianos is staging a protest this Sunday against the expansion of the local port. The group warns the project will worsen traffic and damage the main tourist beach, and is calling for a smarter approach to freight and ferry scheduling.

Binter and the Cantabrian tourism promotion agency Cantur held a networking event in Tenerife to promote the direct air link between the Canary Islands and Santander. Around 100 representatives from 25 travel agencies attended the session, which highlighted the strengths of Cantabria as a destination. The meeting reinforced the role of travel agents as key influencers in designing personalised tourist experiences.

Tenerife’s museum service has approved new rules allowing companion animals into its centres for a three-month trial. The initiative, described as a first for indoor museums in Spain, aims to create more accessible and inclusive cultural spaces. Access will be limited to two animals per room, with strict protocols in place.

The system allows surgeons to plan and practise procedures virtually, improving precision and outcomes for cancers of the pancreas, liver and rectum.

The renowned OKA restaurant, located in the historic Gran Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz, will launch a weekend lunch service from 18 June. Diners can enjoy Ricardo Sanz’s acclaimed Japanese cuisine with Mediterranean and Canarian influences on a panoramic terrace overlooking the Atlantic and Mount Teide.
