While the world watches the World Cup in America, a different tournament is unfolding in Tacoronte, Tenerife. The Mini Copa África 2026 brings together 150 young African players to promote respect, integration, and coexistence through football. Organised by young migrants, the competition aims to challenge hate speech and showcase the positive contribution of the African community in the Canary Islands.

Bajamar, on the coast of La Laguna, will host the third edition of Cañas & Camarones on 11 July 2026, distributing a record one tonne of shrimp in tapas. The free event will feature live music, a local market and restaurants, celebrating the coastal town’s fishing heritage and culinary identity.

Mappa has completed the line-up for its Water edition on 10 July at Siam Park in Adeje, Tenerife, with New York duo The Martinez Brothers headlining. The event is the second part of a trilogy inspired by the elements, following the sold-out Fire edition, and will feature international house and techno names alongside local Canarian talent.

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, has expressed a desire to attract international political figures and celebrities to the city, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, and Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny. His comments come amid a discussion on migration, tourism, and the electoral potential of high-profile visitors.

Tenerife Cook Music Fest has confirmed Puerto Rican artist Ivy Queen for its opening night on 16 July, joining Don Omar, Myke Towers and Farruko in an urban line-up. The three-day festival runs until 18 July with Latin and tropical performances. Organisers expect more than 80,000 attendees across the event.
