Fashion takes centre stage again in La Gomera
La Gomera is once again putting fashion in the spotlight with the second edition of ‘La Gomera, Moda y Magia’ (La Gomera, Fashion and Magic), an initiative promoted by the island’s Cabildo (local government). The event will bring together more than fifteen designers on 25 July from 8pm at the Puerto de Vueltas in Valle Gran Rey.
Free entry and a showcase of new season collections
The catwalk show, which is free to attend until full capacity is reached, will present the next season’s collections from brands and creators who have taken part over recent months in this programme designed to boost the island’s textile and creative sector.
New this year: ‘La Gomera, Moda y Comercio’
The main new feature of this edition is the launch of ‘La Gomera, Moda y Comercio’ (La Gomera, Fashion and Commerce), an initiative developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This will allow garments showcased on the runway to be purchased afterwards in shops across the island. A dozen retail outlets will serve as permanent points of sale for the collections, strengthening the connection between designers, businesses and consumers while promoting the commercialisation of local products.
Tenerife Moda as guest island
The event will also feature Tenerife Moda as a guest island, with the participation of the brand Arena Negra Swimwear and designer Yusef Perdomo, a finalist in the Young Designers Competition of Tenerife Moda. Walking the runway will also be La Gomera-based creators such as Ananas Wear, FILST, Puro Pellejo, Zapatita, Sonia Medina Upcycling, My Celium, Alma Libre, Alhaja Art Couture and Matices by Deniz Passoti, among others.
A 30-metre catwalk with a coastal backdrop
With a 30-metre catwalk installed next to the jetty at Vueltas and the coastal landscape as a backdrop, the event reaffirms its commitment to sustainable fashion, local talent and economic diversification through creativity and design.
