Historic mansion to become first rural hotel in San Juan de la Rambla
La Casona Delgado Oramas, a stately home built during the third quarter of the 18th century, is to be transformed into the first rural hotel in San Juan de la Rambla. The project, awarded for more than two million euros, will restore one of the most emblematic heritage buildings in the town’s historic centre.
Restoration contract awarded
The tender process for the restoration works has finally been awarded to Víctor Rodríguez e Hijos SLU. The construction company, based in nearby La Matanza, will have 24 months to carry out the rehabilitation and transformation of the property, with the aim of enhancing one of the municipality’s most unique heritage assets.
Architectural features and layout
Located on Calle La Alhóndiga, the mansion has a built area of 594 square metres. Its structure is organised around a central courtyard, with two entrance halls, and retains traditional elements of great historical value, such as open galleries, tiled roofs, wooden joinery and a large rear garden.
Plans for the hotel conversion
The works involve a comprehensive restoration of the building, respecting its architectural, historical and heritage value. At the same time, the project envisages adapting the property for its future use as a hotel, while maintaining the original construction style.
According to the planned layout, the basement will be used as storage, while the ground floor will house the communal areas, reception, dining room, tourist information point, as well as gardens, a swimming pool and a solarium. The first floor will have double rooms with private bathrooms, and the rooftop will feature two special suites with terraces.
Council coordination and heritage compliance
The project is being coordinated by the Municipal Works Department, led by the second deputy mayor, Jonay Méndez, and forms part of a municipal strategy focused on heritage restoration and boosting tourism development. It is worth noting that the project underwent a budget update to meet the requirements of the Historical Heritage Unit of the Cabildo de Tenerife, ensuring that the intervention respects all of the building’s protected features.
