Extended Tenerife service from Montreal
Air Canada will operate its flights to Tenerife, Lima (Peru) and Guatemala City from Montreal throughout 2027, despite the service having initially been announced as a winter-only operation. The news came in a statement marking the presentation of next year’s summer schedule, which features five new international destinations and seven new routes.
New routes from Toronto and Vancouver
From Toronto, its main hub, the airline will launch flights to Oslo (Norway), Shannon (Ireland) and Nice (France) for the summer season. It will also resume its day-trip service to London-Heathrow airport and increase its Shanghai (China) frequency to daily departures.
Its Vancouver operation, meanwhile, will introduce year-round connections to Guangzhou (China), while Montreal will also debut services to Basel (Switzerland) and Dubrovnik (Croatia).
Growth strategy and economic impact
These routes underpin Air Canada’s long-term growth strategy, with the airline expecting to create more than 1,500 additional direct jobs by 2028. It also anticipates increasing its contribution to Canada’s GDP by over CA$7 billion per year.
In total, Air Canada plans to operate more than 125 international routes by summer 2027, representing up to 169,000 weekly seats from the North American country to over 85 international destinations across the Atlantic, Pacific, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. This schedule represents an increase of over 8% in available seat-kilometres in these regions compared with summer 2026.
