Double renewal for La Laguna Tenerife
La Laguna Tenerife has confirmed that Uruguayan point guard Bruno Fitipaldo and Gran Canaria-born centre Fran Guerra have both signed contract extensions for the upcoming season, the Endesa League club announced this Friday.
Fitipaldo’s legacy grows
Fitipaldo will now play his seventh season in La Laguna, where he has established himself as the fifth player with the most Endesa League appearances for the team (216), sixth-highest points scorer (1,933), third in three-pointers made (335), and second in assists (761) – only behind Marcelinho Huertas (1,562). In international competitions, the Uruguayan point guard played a key role in securing the Basketball Champions League title in 2022, a competition in which he has accumulated 90 official appearances, as well as the Intercontinental Cup won in 2023, where he made two appearances.
Guerra’s key contribution
Guerra, who arrived in Tenerife in 2019, will now play his eighth season with the club. He is the sixth player with the most Endesa League appearances (211) and the ninth-highest points scorer in that competition (1,396 points). He is also sixth in total rebounds (689), fourth in offensive rebounds, and sixth in defensive rebounds, with 239 and 450 respectively. The Gran Canaria-born centre was also a fundamental figure in the titles mentioned above, to which can be added the Intercontinental Cup won in 2020. In total, he has surpassed one hundred appearances in international competitions wearing the aurinegra shirt (97 in the Basketball Champions League and four in the Intercontinental Cup).
