Fresh fish on the beach: why Casa Tato is a summer essential
In summer, many diners seek out restaurants where they can enjoy fresh fish by the sea – though that combination isn’t always easy to find in Tenerife. However, Restaurante Casa Tato has become a must-stop on the island for anyone looking for fresh seafood served literally on the beachfront. Content creators @guachinchesmodernos recently visited the restaurant and were quick to share their culinary experience with followers, noting that Jonay already knew the place. “Today it’s fresh fish by the beach,” they commented.
Surprise starters and a standout salad
During their visit, the restaurant surprised them with some zamburiñas (small scallops) they hadn’t ordered – the staff wanted them to try the dish – and they noted that it comes with a sweet sauce. One of the dishes that caught their attention most was the burgado salad, an off-menu creation that combines this local mollusc with avocado on a tomato base. “This off-menu dish really surprised me,” remarked Joana.
Moray chips and fresh horse mackerel
Another recommendation is the moray chips, a different way to taste this fish – boneless and with a crispy texture that surprises diners. “This is a treat,” they said in the video, highlighting how addictive the dish is. For their main course, they chose fresh horse mackerel, although they only ordered a half portion due to the size of the fish. “It’s really tasty and you can tell it’s fresh fish,” they assured viewers. They also praised both the flavour and quality of the fish.
A light finish and practical details
As a finishing touch, they enjoyed a lemon yoghurt dessert – a fresh, light option to end the meal. The establishment has a terrace, accepts reservations, and has a card payment terminal. Casa Tato is located at Calle el Balo, 6, in El Socorro, in the municipality of Güímar. It holds a 4.2-star rating on Google, reflecting the satisfaction of those who have visited and enjoyed its fresh products. It is open daily from 12:30 to 16:30 for lunch service, except on Wednesdays when the restaurant is closed for staff rest.
