Lifeguards at Playa de El Reducto in Arrecife, Lanzarote, rescued two young children unharmed after their inflatable boat was blown approximately 200 metres out to sea by strong winds.

Incident on Saturday afternoon

According to a press release from the local council, the incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, 25 April, when lifeguards spotted a small inflatable vessel being carried away by the wind. They immediately entered the water to bring the children to safety.

Once safely ashore, the children, aged 8 and 9, were handed back to their mother. She told council lifeguards that she had briefly stepped away to retrieve something from her car, and in that moment the boat was blown out to sea.
