Teide Among World’s Top 10 Most Popular Heritage Parks

Teide Named Among World’s Top Heritage Parks

Teide National Park has cemented its place among the ten most popular UNESCO World Heritage national parks in the world, according to a ranking compiled by TUI Musement based on the volume of user reviews on Google. In this international classification, the natural space in Tenerife takes tenth place, becoming the only Spanish representative within the top 10.

Global Surge in Nature Tourism

The list is headed by Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes National Park and reflects the boom in nature tourism on a global scale. The TUI Musement report notes that outdoor activities continue to gain importance among travellers, pointing out that half of all tourists show an interest in this type of experience during their trips.

Teide’s Volcanic Allure

In the case of Teide, the study highlights its volcanic landscape, lava flows, craters, and rock formations, as well as the network of footpaths and the cable car as some of the park’s major attractions. This natural and geological value has made the Tenerife site one of the most sought-after spaces for those travelling to the Canary Islands in search of nature, outdoor activity, and volcano-linked experiences.

International Park Rankings

The ranking also shows a clear dominance by the United States, with four parks in the top 10: the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Great Smoky Mountains, and Yellowstone. The top spots also feature Iguazú on the Argentina-Brazil border, along with Italy’s Cinque Terre and the Lake District in the United Kingdom.

A Boost for Tenerife’s Natural Icon

For Tenerife, Teide’s entry into this international ranking reinforces the park’s profile as one of Spain’s great natural icons and as one of the main draws for nature tourism in the Canaries. The park remains a key destination for activities such as hiking, observing the volcanic landscape, and high-mountain excursions.
