pedri tegeste homecoming tribute

Pedri to be honoured in home town of Tegueste

Homecoming celebrations for World Cup winner

The Town Hall of Tegueste, together with the Cabildo of Tenerife, will hold an official reception for local footballer Pedro González, known worldwide as Pedri, on Tuesday 11 August, following his proclamation as world champion with the Spanish national team.

To make it easier for people to get to the event, the council and the island corporation have encouraged fans to use public transport, and TITSA (Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife) has made several bus routes available with connections to Tegueste.

Extra bus services for fans

Among the options is Line 050, which connects La Laguna with Tegueste via a direct route along the main road, as well as Line 052, which runs from the La Laguna transport interchange to Tegueste, passing through El Socorro and Las Toscas. Also available are Line 057, which links La Laguna, Tacoronte, Tejina and Tegueste, and Line 051, which goes from the La Laguna interchange to Tegueste via the Pedro Álvarez neighbourhood.

Balcony appearance planned

The event will begin at 5pm at the Casa Consistorial (town hall), and will be attended by the mayor of Tegueste, Juan Norberto Padilla, the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, as well as representatives of both institutions, family members and invited guests, according to a statement from the council. During the reception, Pedri will step out onto the town hall balcony to greet the residents and visitors who come along to share in the celebration on Tuesday.

In a message shared on social media, the Tegueste Town Hall and the Cabildo of Tenerife have invited everyone to take part in this tribute and to accompany the local footballer on a day that will recognise his “outstanding career” as well as his recent World Cup triumph with Spain.
