Man dies after being pulled from the sea at Garcey beach
A 38-year-old man drowned on Sunday at Garcey beach, in the municipality of Pájara, in southern Fuerteventura, according to the 112 emergency service.
Emergency services called at 19.10
The incident occurred at 19.10, when the emergency services were alerted that a man was in difficulties in the sea. Crews from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Civil Guard and the Local Police attended the scene and helped to rescue the man from the water.
Medical staff assessed and treated him, confirming that he showed signs of drowning and was in cardiorespiratory arrest. After performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres without success, they could only confirm his death.
Maritime Rescue and Pájara firefighters also took part in the emergency operation.
