National Police launch major operation in Las Verónicas

National Police officers detained and identified a large group of people in the early hours of last Saturday after launching a special preventive operation in Las Verónicas, an action carried out in response to Arona council’s demands for greater security amid a rise in incidents in the area.

Operation extended to the Golden Mile

The operation, which ran between 2am and 5am last Saturday, also covered the Golden Mile on Avenida de Las Américas, and involved specialist units including the Police Intervention Units (UIP) and the Prevention and Reaction Units (UPR), sources from the security force told Europa Press.

Fewer than ten arrests after violent incidents

The extensive deployment was also a preventive measure and part of the fight against the violent crimes, robberies and altercations that have recently been recorded in this area of south Tenerife. It ultimately ended with fewer than ten arrests and numerous people identified.

So far, the National Police have been unable to confirm to Europa Press the exact number of people detained in the operation, nor the number of officers taking part in the preventive deployment, although they did describe it as “extensive”.
