EasyJet flight forced to abort journey after passenger brawl

An EasyJet flight bound for Liverpool was forced to abort its route and return to Tenerife South Airport after a serious disturbance broke out in the cabin. According to air traffic control sources, a mass brawl involving around 10 passengers left the captain with no choice but to turn back for safety reasons.

The incident

The altercation occurred approximately 30 minutes after the departure of flight EZY3352. Given the scale of the fight and the clear threat to the safety of passengers and crew, the captain requested landing priority and for security forces to be immediately present on the runway.

Air traffic control managed the return of the aircraft — a plane with capacity for 186 passengers — as quickly as possible to ensure a safe touchdown.

Return and response

The aircraft turned around half an hour into the flight after the crew sent an alert. It landed without further incident and cleared runway 07. Police officers were waiting for the flight to arrive so they could intervene and remove the disruptive group before the plane could resume its journey to the United Kingdom.

Airline and controller statements

“Our sincere support goes out to the crews and passengers who increasingly have to endure these situations,” air traffic controllers said in an official statement.

EasyJet, cited by the Daily Mail, reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour on board and praised the actions of its staff. The company noted that its cabin and ground crew are trained to act quickly in any disruptive situation, and stressed that the safety and wellbeing of customers and crew remain its absolute priority.
